Resurrection – The Stage Musical

A.M.A. Theatre Co. is proud to be the executive producers of “Resurrection – The Musical” based on the first novel in The Buccaneers Legend Trilogy. The musical is fast-paced, with a reworking of many well know Celtic and Irish folk songs that create a deep resonating empathy in the narrative. This reflects the overall tone of the first novel, which has nothing to do with swashbuckling pirates.

“When mankind fails to learn from the history’s mistakes, the past stirs with its full aggressive fury, and resurrects four eighteenth century pirates with no memory of their past. As they adapt to the modern world and embrace their humanity, can they teach us the true meaning of compassion and empathy? As it becomes clearer that they hold a metaphorical mirror to reflect our souls, it becomes obvious they are not who they first appear, but who are they? and why are they here?”

Through a series of strange and mysterious events, they are forced to relive their violent past lives. But in doing so, they also evoke the cruelty, abuse and circumstances beyond their control that led them to become pirates in the first place. This in turn ignites their long-forgotten humanity and gradually they begin to feel empathy for others and a new meaning to their lives. They ultimately turn from murderous cutthroats to heroes and champions for justice making the romanticism of pirates often portrayed today, truly justified.

Serving as a clever, satirical parody of the classic comedy series Up Pompeii!, the show reimagines history to mirror our modern times. The synopsis follows the chaotic aftermath of “…The Day Pompeii Voted to Leave the Roman Empire …!”, spinning a hilarious satirical tale of just how spectacularly things have gone wrong since the UK voted to leave the EU. Expect a night of pure nostalgic comedy, political lampooning, and plenty of titters!
